Mazmur 78:70-71

78:70 He chose David, his servant,

and took him from the sheepfolds.

78:71 He took him away from following the mother sheep, ¹ 

and made him the shepherd of Jacob, his people,

and of Israel, his chosen nation. ² 

Mazmur 89:27

89:27 I will appoint him to be my firstborn son, ³ 

the most exalted of the earth’s kings.

[78:71]  ² tn Heb “to shepherd Jacob, his people, and Israel, his inheritance.”

[89:27]  ³ sn The firstborn son typically had special status and received special privileges.
